Thioglycerin 0.5 mg
Metacresol 2.0 mg
Water for injection up to 1 ml
Marbofloxacin is a synthetic bactericidal substance belonging to the fluoroquinolone group. Its action is based on the inhibition of DNA gyrase. It is effective against a wide range of gram-positive bacteria (especially Staphylococcus) and gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pasteurella multocida, Pasteurella haemolytica and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae), as well as mycoplasma (Wasplasma bovis, Wasplasma hyopneumoniae). Streptococcus resistance may develop.
After intramuscular or subcutaneous administration in cattle or pigs at the recommended dose of 2 mg / kg, marbofloxacin is rapidly absorbed and reaches a maximum plasma concentration of 1.5 mg / ml in less than 1 hour. Its bioavailability is close to 100%.
Marbofloxacin weakly binds to plasma proteins (less than 10% in pigs and 30% in livestock), is well distributed and in most tissues (liver, kidneys, skin, lungs, uterus) it reaches a higher concentration than in plasma.
Marbofloxacin is slowly excreted in dairy calves (t1 / 2 = 5-9 hours) and pigs (t1 / 2 = 8-10 hours), faster in ruminants (t1 / 2 = 4-7 hours), mainly in active form with urine and feces.
Withdrawal period:
Meat: 6 days (cattle), 4 days (pigs)
Manufacturer: Vetoquinol (France)
