Sedalin Gel (acepromazine) oral gel for Horses and Dogs, 10ml
Yellow-yellow-hot transparent gel for oral administration.

Storage
In 1 ml of the drug - acepromazine malicheate 35.0 mg, methyl-4-hydroxybenzoate 0.65 mg, propyl-4-hydroxybenzoate 0.35 mg (preservatives).

Application
It is used for dogs and horses in cases where injectable sedation is not suitable or not indicated.
It is used during haircuts, treatment and brushing of teeth, whipping, transportation, medical manipulations, etc.

Dosage and method of application:
The gel is applied to a piece of sugar or directly to the root of the animal's tongue.

Dogs:
Weak sedation — 1.0 mg of acepromazine per 1 kg of body weight (0.5 ml of Sedalin gel per 17.5 kg of body weight).
Average sedation is 2.0 mg of acepromazine per 1 kg of body weight (1 ml of Sedalin gel per 17.5 kg of weight).
Deep sedation 3.0 mg of acepromazine per 1 kg of body weight (1.5 ml of Sedalin gel per 17.5 kg of weight).

Horses:
Moderate sedation: 0.15 mg acepromazine/kg.
The dose can be varied to use between 1⁄2 and 1 1⁄2 times the above recommendation, according to the required level of sedation, i.e.:
for light sedation, enter half the recommended dose,
for deep sedation — use 1 1⁄2 times more than the recommended dose.
Due to the difficulties in ensuring accurate delivery of small doses, the product should only be used in animals weighing less than 200 kg according to a benefit/risk assessment by the responsible veterinarian. The syringe is inserted into the animal's mouth, and the appropriate dose is pumped into the case. The pleasant gel can be mixed with food.

Contraindications, warnings, etc.
Do not apply to animals in a state of shock or after traumatic exposure, in the presence of serious emotional excitement/epilepsy.
Sedation lasts approximately 6 hours, although the actual time and depth of sedation directly depends on the condition of the animal. Increasing the dose leads to longer exposure and side effects, but not greater sedation.
Do not use in cases of post-traumatic hypolemia.

Side effects
Since acepromazine reduces the tone of the sympathetic nervous system, a short-term decrease in blood pressure may occur after its administration. Acepromazine inhibits thermoregulation.
The following reverse changes are possible on the hemogram: a transient decrease in the number of erythrocytes and hemoglobin concentration, as well as platelet and leukocyte counts.
Since it increases the secretion of prolactin, the administration of acepromazine may lead to impaired fertility.
Penile prolapse can occur as a result of relaxation of the retractor muscles of the penis. Penile retraction should be visible within 2-3 hours. If this does not happen, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian. Lack of retraction is of particular concern in breeding boars.

Use during pregnancy or lactation
Acepromazine should not be used in pregnant or lactating animals. Foals show the lowest dose range to minimize penile prolapse.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction
Acepromazine potentiates the effect of centrally depressant drugs. The simultaneous use of organic phosphate esters increases the toxicity of acepromazine. Since acepromazine reduces the tone of the sympathetic nervous system, it should not be administered simultaneously with drugs that lower blood pressure.

Overdose (Symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes) as needed
Overdose leads to an earlier onset of sedative symptoms and a long-lasting effect, causes ataxia, hypotension, hypothermia.

Withdrawal period
It is not allowed to be used in horses intended for further slaughter.
