Meloxicam ORAL suspension for Dogs and Cats 50 ml (1.7 oz)

Composition
1 ml of the drug contains the active substance: meloxicam - 1 mg.
Excipients: glycerin, polyvinylpyrrolidone (colidon K-25), sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, xanthan gum, citric acid, sodium phosphate dihydrate, sodium benzoate, purified water.

Application
Meloxyvet suspension is prescribed to dogs and cats as an anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic drug for inflammatory and pain syndromes of various origins, including acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system (arthritis, osteoarthritis, synovitis, dislocations), inflammatory diseases and soft and anti-inflammatory drug in the postoperative period.

Dosage
Meloxyvet suspension is used when fed individually orally once a day.
Dogs on the first day of treatment the drug is used in a dose of 0.2 ml (4 drops) of the drug per 1 kg of body weight of the animal (which corresponds to 0.2 mg of meloxicam), in subsequent days - 0.1 ml (2 drops) of the drug per 1 kg animal body weight (corresponding to 0.1 mg meloxicam).
Cats use the drug on the first day of treatment at a dose of 0.1 ml (2 drops) of the drug per 1 kg of body weight of the animal (corresponding to 0.1 mg of meloxicam), in subsequent days - 0.05 ml (1 drop) of the drug per 1 kg animal body weight (corresponding to 0.05 mg meloxicam). Each consumer package of 50 ml is provided with syringes-dispensers that allows to dose as much as possible precisely drug to dogs of large and average breeds (from 5 kg). Each consumer package of 10 ml is provided with droppers for dosing of dogs of small breeds and cats (up to 5 kg).

Before use, the contents of the vial with the drug must be heated to 30 ° C and shaken.
The duration of treatment depends on the indications and condition of the animal and is determined by the attending veterinarian, but should not exceed 10 days. In the absence of improvement in the clinical condition of the animals after a 10-day course of treatment, the drug is discontinued.
Skips should be avoided when administering the next dose of the drug, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If a single dose is missed, it should be administered as soon as possible. Further, the interval until the next administration of the drug does not change.

Contraindications
A contraindication to the use of the drug is the individual hypersensitivity of the animal to meloxicam or drugs with similar effects, such as other NSAIDs, including acetylsalicylic acid; gastric and duodenal ulcer, severe renal and hepatic failure, hemorrhagic syndrome. Do not use simultaneously with corticosteroids, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as anticoagulants.
Meloxivet suspension should not be used in pregnant and lactating females, puppies and kittens under 6 weeks of age, in dehydrated animals, hypovolaemia and hypotension, due to the possibility of toxic effects of the drug on the kidneys. If it is absolutely necessary to prescribe the drug to such animals, the treatment is carried out under the constant supervision of a veterinarian, while the daily dose of the drug is reduced by 2 times. The drug is contraindicated in animals with diseases of the cardiovascular system, clinical renal failure, at risk of ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract and gastrointestinal bleeding, as well as diseases of the hematopoietic organs and hypersensitivity to the drug.

Side effects
There may be leukopenia, allergic reactions, drowsiness, tachycardia, hypertension, abdominal pain, liver and kidney disorders, itching and skin rashes, edema.

Caution
As the risk associated with the use of meloxicam may increase depending on the dosage and duration of use, it is necessary to appoint as short a period of use and the minimum effective daily dose. In case of development of signs of side effects, use of drug should be stopped. Prolonged use of Meloxicet suspension should be carried out only under the supervision of a veterinarian. It is not recommended to use Meloxicet suspension at the same time, as well as for 24 hours before and 24 hours after the end of the use of other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticoids and potentially nephrotoxic drugs. The drug is highly bound to plasma proteins, competing with other drugs that bind protein, can lead to toxic effects. At the increased individual sensitivity of animals to meloxicam, emergence of signs of an allergy, use of Meloksivet suspension is stopped and antihistamines are appointed to animals.

Overdose
Do not exceed these doses. In case of overdose, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, depression, bleeding and ulcers of the gastrointestinal tract may occur. In case of overdose, consult a veterinarian immediately. In case of overdose, treatment is symptomatic.

Storage
