Description
Colorless transparent solution.
Composition
1 ml of the drug contains the active substance: dexamethasone (dexamethasone disodium phosphate) - 2 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Dexamethasone has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect due to suppression of eosinophils release of inflammatory mediators, induction of lipocortin formation and reduction of mast cells producing histamine and hyaluronic acid with reduced permeability of organelles (especially capillary membranes).
Application
Treatment of cattle, horses, sheep, calves, pigs, foals, cats and dogs with arthritis, bursitis, tendovaginitis, allergic dermatitis, primary ketosis (in cows), acetonemia, mastitis, agalactia, eczema. Dexamethasone can be used as maintenance therapy in case an immediate therapeutic effect is required.
Dosage
Intramuscularly, intravenously or subcutaneously (dogs) in a dose:
dogs, cats - 0.25-0.5 ml per 5 kg or 0.1-0.2 mg of dexamethasone per 1 kg of body weight. If necessary, the injection is repeated after 2 days;
cattle, horses - 5-10 ml of the drug per 400 kg or 2.5-5 mg of dexamethasone per 100 kg. If necessary, the injection is repeated in 3-4 days;
sheep, calves, pigs, foals - 1-2 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight or 2-4 mg of dexamethasone in 50 kg. If necessary, the injection is repeated in 3-4 days.
Intra-articular injections are given to the animal in a dose of 0.25 - 4 ml of the drug.
Contraindications
Do not use in pregnant animals or in animals with diabetes mellitus, chronic nephritis, heart failure or osteoporosis. Do not use for viral infections during the viremic phase. Do not use on horses to treat laminitis.
Caution
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 3 days after the last application of the drug. Consumption of milk for human consumption is allowed 1 day after the last use of the drug. By the specified date, meat and milk are fed to unproductive animals or disposed of (depending on the opinion of the veterinarian).
