DEXAGUARD 100 ML solution for inj* O.L.KAR ANTI-INFLAMMATORY, ANTI-ALLERGIC, ANTI-STRESS
Compound.
1 ml of the drug contains dexamethasone sodium phosphate - 2.64 mg (equivalent to 2 mg of dexamethasone).
Pharmacological properties.
Dexagard is a glucocorticosteroid drug that has anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, desensitizing, anti-shock, immunosuppressive and antiproliferative effects. Dexamethasone reduces or prevents tissue response to inflammation by reducing the development of signs of inflammation without affecting its cause. Dexamethasone affects all stages of the inflammatory process. Reduces: the permeability of blood vessels, inhibits phagocytosis and the release of chemical mediators of inflammation, the concentration of T-lymphocytes, monocytes and eosinophilic leukocytes, the binding of immunoglobulin to receptors of surface tissues and inhibits the synthesis and release of interleukins; the number of circulating lymphocytes (T and B cells), monocytes, eosinophils and basophils, bone formation and enhances bone resorption, plasma calcium concentration, leading to secondary hyperparathyroidism and further stimulation of osteoclasts and direct inhibition of osteoblasts.
Increases: glucose uptake, lipolysis and metabolizes fatty acids from adipose tissue. Suppresses the synthesis of thyropropic and FSH.
Application.
Metabolic processes: ketosis in cattle or postpartum toxemia in sheep and sows.
Non-infectious inflammatory processes: arthritis, periarthritis, tendovaginitis, bursitis, dislocations, inflammation of muscles, bones and tendons.
Acute infectious diseases (acute mastitis, metritis, pneumonia), in combination with appropriate antibiotic therapy.
Allergic conditions, for example, asthma, allergic skin lesions (eczema, urticaria, itching, etc.), laminitis in horses and cattle, snake bites.
Stress and shock;
Toxemia during the last stage of pregnancy (within 2-4 days).
Dosage.
The drug is administered intravenously, intramuscularly or subcutaneously (dogs, cats):
- Cattle, horses: 5-10 ml per 400 kg of body weight. To initiate calving in cows - within 1 week before calving at a dose of 2.5 ml per 100 kg of body weight
- pigs: 1.5 ml per 50 kg body weight
- Sheep, goats, calves 1-2 ml per 50 kg of body weight. For postpartum toxemia and for initiation of lambing in sheep and goats: 6 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight
- dogs, cats: 0.25-0.5 ml per 5 kg of body weight.
If necessary, the drug is administered repeatedly: to dogs and cats with a 2-day interval; other animals at 3-4 day intervals.
In the complex of anti-shock therapy, the drug is used by slow injection of a tenfold anti-inflammatory dose, again after 8-12 hours.
Intra-articular administration: depending on the affected area and body weight of the animal - from 0.25 to 4 ml.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, systemic fungal infection, active tuberculosis, diabetes mellitus, systemic infections, arterial hypertension, acute disorders of higher nervous activity, pregnancy, gastric and / or intestinal ulcers, viral diseases, osteoporosis, Itsenko-Cushing's syndrome, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Side effect.
Retention of water and sodium in the body, loss of potassium and calcium, hypertension, muscle weakness, osteoporosis, ulcer with possible subsequent perforation and bleeding, pancreatitis, impaired wound healing, convulsions, dizziness, development of Itsenko-Cushing's syndrome, violation of the sexual cycle, manifestations of latent sugar diabetes, allergies, infectious diseases associated with the immunosuppressive effect of the drug. Suppression of the function of the adrenal cortex.
With prolonged treatment (more than 2 weeks), it is possible to develop functional adrenal insufficiency, diabetes mellitus, impaired secretion of sex hormones. Secondary adrenocortical deficiency can be caused by abrupt withdrawal of corticosteroids and can be minimized by gradual dose tapering.
Warning
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 14 days after the last injection of the drug. In case of forced slaughter of a previously established period, meat can be used as feed for fur animals or for processing into meat and bone meal.
Milk must not be used for food purposes within 2 days after the last injection of the drug. The milk obtained earlier than the established period can be used after boiling in animal feed.
