Vetoquinol Clavaseptin (Clavaseptin) - Tablets for the treatment of cats and dogs with skin diseases
Clavaseptin is an anti-infective drug. It is indicated for the treatment or adjunctive treatment of periodontal infections in dogs and for the treatment of skin infections in cats.
Dosage form:
Beige tablets, packaged in a blister of 10 pcs. 10 or 25 blisters per pack
Structure:
Clavaseptin 62.5 mg tablets for the treatment of cats and dogs containing: 50 mg amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 12.5 mg clavulanic acid (as potassium salt).
Clavaseptin 250 mg tablets for the treatment of dogs containing: 200 mg of amoxicillin (as trihydrate) 50 mg of clavulanic acid (as potassium salt).
Pharmacological properties:
New concept of antibiotic therapy. Resistance to many antibiotics is caused by bacterial enzymes that destroy the antibiotic before it can act on the pathogen. The clavulanate in Clavaseptin anticipates this defense mechanism by blocking the β-lactamase enzymes, thereby making organisms susceptible to the rapid bactericidal effect of amoxicillin at concentrations readily achievable in the body.
Indications for use:
Treatment of cats and dogs for diseases of the skin (including treatment of deep and superficial pyoderma), soft tissues, oral cavity (for example, gingivitis), urinary tract, respiratory system (including diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract), alimentary canal (enteritis) caused by microorganisms sensitive to amoxicillin and clavulan cysts.
Dosage and method of administration:
Clavaseptin 62.5 mg:
Orally in doses of 10 mg of amoxicillin and 2.5 mg of clavulanic acid per 1 kg of body weight, 2 times a day (1 tab. per 5 kg twice a day)

5.1 - 7.5 kg 1.5 tab.

Clavaseptin 250 mg:
Orally in doses of 10 mg of amoxicillin and 2.5 mg of clavulanic acid per 1 kg of body weight, 2 times a day (1 tablet per 20 kg twice a day)

Duration of treatment:
7 days for treating periodontal infections in dogs
7 days for treating skin infections in cats (including wounds and abscesses). The clinical status of the animals should be re-assessed after 7 days and treatment will be continued for an additional 7 days if necessary.
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to penicillins or other substances of the β-lactam group or to any of the excipients
For cats and dogs only. Do not apply to other animals
Do not use in animals with severe kidney dysfunction accompanied by anuria or oliguaria.
Do not use in cases of known resistance to the combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid
Storage conditions:
