VETMEDIN 50tab

Active ingredient: Pimobendan
1 capsule of Vetmedin® contains 1.25 mg/ 5mg

Dosage form of release: in capsules and tablets.

Application area:
Vetmedin is a veterinary drug that acts on the cardiovascular system. It is used in the treatment of heart failure in dogs caused by dilated cardiomyopathy or valvular insufficiency (mitral and/or tricuspid valve regurgitation) with characteristic symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, decreased exercise tolerance or ascites.

What are the contraindications?
Vetmedin® should not be used in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and diseases in which an increase in cardiac output cannot be achieved for functional or anatomical reasons (for example, aortic stenosis). Since Vetmedin® is excreted from the body mainly through the liver, this drug should not be used in dogs with severe liver failure.

The drug is not used in productive animals.

Precautionary measures:
in dogs with diabetes mellitus during treatment, it is necessary to regularly monitor blood glucose levels.

Interaction with other means.
In pharmacological studies, it was not possible to establish any interaction between the cardiac glycoside strophanthin and pimobendan. Pimobendan-induced contractility fraction elevation is attenuated by calcium antagonists such as verapamil and beta-blockers such as propranolol.
