Used to treat infectious diseases of dogs and cats of bacterial etiology, including:
- skin diseases (including deep and superficial pyoderma)
- urinary tract infections
- respiratory infections of bacterial etiology (with involvement in the infectious process of both the upper and lower respiratory tract)
Composition and form of release
Sinulox 250 mg tablets are round pink tablets with a score line on one side and the word "Sinulox" on the other side. Each tablet contains 200 mg of amoxicillin in the form of amoxicillin trihydrate and 50 mg of clavulanic acid in the form of sodium clavulanate. Produced packed in 10 pieces in strips of foil, which are placed in cardboard boxes.
Pharmacological properties
Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin with a broad spectrum of action, which has a rapid bactericidal effect on many gram-positive (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Corynebacterium spp.) And gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Bropticala, Bordetella). including b-lactamase-producing strains. Resistance to b-lactam antibacterial drugs is usually due to the ability of microorganisms to produce b-lactamase, an enzyme that breaks down the b-lactam ring of an antibiotic before it can act on a bacterial cell. Clavulanic acid, which is part of sinulox, inactivates b-lactamase and thus restores the sensitivity of the bacterium to the bactericidal action of amoxicillin in concentrations that are easily achieved in animal tissues after administration of the drug.
Indications
Prescribed to dogs and cats for the treatment of infections of bacterial etiology: skin and soft tissue diseases (abscesses, pyoderma, inflammation of the paranal glands, gingivitis, stomatitis, etc.), respiratory diseases, diseases of the genitourinary system and enteritis.
Doses and method of application
Sinulox 250 mg tablets are administered to sick animals directly in the mouth or in crushed form with food at a dose of 12.5 mg per 1 kg of animal weight (for example, at an animal weight of 26-35 kg - 1.5 tablets of Sinulox 250 mg, at an animal weight over 50 kg - 3 tablets of sinulox 250 mg) 2 times a day for 5-7 days. If the disease is difficult to treat, especially in respiratory infections, you can increase the dose of sinulox 2 times (up to 25 mg per 1 kg of animal weight) twice a day or reduce the intervals between drug administration. In the case of chronic or incurable diseases, often accompanied by significant tissue damage, a longer course of sinulox therapy is recommended: the duration of treatment of chronic skin diseases and chronic cystitis is 10-28 days, respiratory diseases - 8-10 days.
Side effects
Allergic reactions are possible in hypersensitive animals. With proper use and dosage, no side effects are observed.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Sinulox, like other penicillin antibiotics, is not allowed in rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and gerbils. The drug should be used with great caution to other species of small herbivores.
Special instructions
No special precautions are provided. The use of the drug is not indicated for pseudomonas infection. Sinulox 250 mg tablets can be used as an alternative to injectable forms of antibiotics in the treatment of small animals.
