CEFTIFUR-50 100ML solution for inj*
Storage
1 ml of the drug contains the active substance:
ceftiofur (in the form of hydrochloride) - 50 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Ceftiofur is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Has a wide spectrum of activity, active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including strains producing β-lactamase, and some anaerobes, including: Pasteurella (Mannheimia) haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, Haemophilius somnus, Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Haemophilius parasuis, Salmonella cholerasuis, Streptococcus suis, Streptococcus zooepidemicus, Streptococcus equi, Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus spp., Actynomyces pyogenes, Salmonella typhimurium, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Streptococcus bovis, Klebsiela spp., Citrobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Bacillus spp., Proteus spp. ., Fusobacterium necrophorum and Porphyromonas asaccharolytica (Bacteroides melaninogenicus). The mechanism of bactericidal action of ceftiofur consists in suppressing the functional activity of bacterial enzymes transpeptidases and carboxypeptidases, which are involved in the binding of the main component of the cell wall of microorganisms - peptidoglycan, which leads to a violation of the osmotic balance and the destruction of the bacterial cell.
Ceftiofur after parenteral administration is metabolized with the formation of desfuroylceftiofur, which has an activity equivalent to ceftiofur against bacteria. This metabolite binds back to plasma proteins and accumulates in the focus of inflammation. Ceftiofur and its metabolites are excreted from the animal's body mainly with urine and to a lesser extent with bile.
Target animals
Cattle, poultry, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs, cats
Indications for use
Treatment of cattle, sheep, goats
with acute postpartum metritis, mastitis, necrobacteriosis (panaritium, hoof rot), as well as with respiratory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to ceftiofur.
Treatment of pigs
with acute metritis, with diseases of the respiratory organs caused by microorganisms sensitive to ceftiofur.
Treatment of dogs and cats
in diseases of the digestive tract (enteritis, gastroenteritis, gastroenterocolitis), respiratory organs (bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, rhinitis) and genitourinary system (metritis, endometritis, mastitis, agalactia, cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis), joints, skin and soft tissues; acute and chronic otitis, surgical, wound, postpartum and other primary and secondary infections of bacterial etiology caused by microorganisms sensitive to ceftiofur.
Method of administration and dosage
Cattle, sheep, goats:
in the treatment of respiratory diseases - intramuscularly in a dose of 1 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight once a day for 3-5 days; in the treatment of acute necrobacteriosis - intramuscularly in a dose of 1 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight once a day for 3 days; in the treatment of acute postpartum metritis (10 days after calving) - subcutaneously in a dose of 1 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight once a day for 5 days; in the treatment of mastitis - intramuscularly in a dose of 1-2 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight once a day for 5 days.
Pigs:
intramuscularly in a dose of 1 ml of the drug per 16 kg of body weight once a day for 3 days.
Dogs, cats:
intramuscularly in a dose of 0.5 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight once a day for 3-5 days.
Each subsequent injection should be made from the opposite side of the animal's body.
In the case of acute postpartum metritis, additional supportive therapy may be required.
Before use, the bottle with the drug must be thoroughly shaken.
The maximum recommended dose for a single injection for cattle is 10 ml of the drug; for sheep and goats, pigs and dogs – 5 ml, for cats – 1 ml.
Withdrawal period:
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 5 days after the last application of the drug. The consumption of milk for human food is allowed without restrictions. The meat received before the specified period is disposed of or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the conclusion of the veterinary medicine doctor.
Expiry date
2 years. After the first withdrawal of the drug from the bottle: 28 days, provided it is stored in a dark place at a temperature of 5° to 25°C.
Storage conditions
Store in a dark place inaccessible to children at a temperature from 5°С to 25°С.
