CEFAZOLIN 1 Gramm VETERINARY from ARTERIUM
10ampules x 1gramm
Storage
1 vial contains the active substance: sterile cefazolin sodium salt (in terms of cefazolin) - 1.0 g.
Application:
Treatment of dogs and cats suffering from peritonitis, as well as diseases of the respiratory and genitourinary systems, infections of the skin, bones and joints, infected wounds caused by microorganisms sensitive to cefazolin. Prevention of surgical infections in the pre- and postoperative periods.
Dosage
The drug is administered intramuscularly and intravenously (stream or drip). The drug should be dissolved before use. The solution should be prepared immediately before its use. Freshly prepared solutions retain their physical and chemical stability for 4 hours at room temperature (or for 12 hours at a temperature of 2-8°C). For intramuscular administration, the contents of the bottle are dissolved in 4-5 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution or sterile water for injections. For intravenous injection, a single dose of the drug is dissolved in 10 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution and slowly infused over 3-5 minutes. With intravenous drip administration, a single dose of the drug is dissolved in 100-250 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution or 5% glucose solution, the injection is carried out within 20-30 minutes (the rate of administration is 60-80 drops per 1 minute).
The recommended dose for cats and dogs is 15-30 mg of cefazolin per 1 kg of body weight with an interval of 6-12 hours. The duration of treatment depends on the form and severity of the disease and ranges from 5 to 10 days. The duration of prophylaxis of surgical complications in the postoperative period is 3-5 days.
Contraindications
Increased sensitivity to drugs of the group of cephalosporins and other b-lactam antibiotics. Do not use in animals with severe kidney disorders. Do not use simultaneously with anticoagulants and diuretics. Pharmaceutically, cefazolin is incompatible with aminoglycosides (mutual inactivation). Aminoglycosides when used simultaneously with cefazolin increase the risk of kidney damage.
Reservation
The use of the drug in pregnant animals is allowed only after careful assessment of the benefit / risk ratio for the fetus and mother. The safety of the use of cefazolin in cats and dogs during lactation has not been studied. Cefazolin is able to penetrate into breast milk. The drug should be used with caution in cats and dogs during lactation.
Storage
Dry, protected from light place at a temperature of 15 °C to 25 °C. Store in
out of the reach of children.
The shelf life of the drug is 3 years.
The expiration date of the drug dissolved in 0.9% sodium chloride solution or
5% glucose solution is 4 hours, provided it is stored in the dark
place at room temperature (from 15 °C to 25 °C) or within 12 hours at
temperature from 2 °C to 8 °C.
