ANTILAKT 7 ML BIOTESLAB (FOR TERMINATION OF LACTATION IN CATS AND DOGS)
STORAGE
1 ml of the drug contains the active substance:
cabergoline - 50 μg;
Excipients: propylene glycol, dicaprylate/dicaprate.
PHARMACEUTICAL FORM
Colorless transparent solution.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
ATS-VET CLASSIFICATION CODE: QG02CB — PROLACTIN INHIBITORS.
Cabergoline, which is included in the composition of the drug, a derivative of ergoline, performs the function of an agonist of dopamine receptors, which leads to inhibition of the secretion of prolactin, the main hormone of lactogenesis, by the pituitary gland. A decrease in the level of prolactin prevents lactation and contributes to the disappearance of clinical signs of false pregnancy in bitches and cats.
After oral administration, the peak inhibition of prolactin secretion is reached after 4-8 hours and lasts for several days, depending on the dose.
Cabergoline is excreted from the body in the form of metabolites, mainly with feces (60%) and, to a lesser extent, with urine (22%).
APPLICATION
ANTILACT is used in bitches and cats to stop lactation according to clinical indications (for example, during the early weaning of puppies and kittens) and to stop false pregnancy (pseudopregnancy).
DOSAGE
The drug is used orally with food or directly on the root of the tongue in a dose of 0.1 ml (3 drops, equivalent to 5 μg of cabergoline per kg of body weight) per 1 kg of the animal's body weight, once a day for 4-6 days.
CONTRAINDICATION
Do not use in case of individual sensitivity of the animal to cabergoline.
Do not use in pregnant bitches and cats.
Do not use in lactating females during the period of feeding the offspring.
Do not use in animals with kidney and liver failure.
Do not use in hypotensive animals.
SIDE EFFECT
It is well tolerated in recommended doses. In the first two days of using the drug, side effects in the form of vomiting, anorexia, lethargy, which stop on their own and do not require discontinuation of the drug, are rarely possible. In case of uncontrollable vomiting, the drug is discontinued.
Very rarely, animals sensitive to ergoline derivatives may experience allergic reactions in the form of itching, swelling, dermatitis, and urticaria, which stop after discontinuation of the drug and the use of antihistamines.
RESERVATION
Do not use the drug with dopamine antagonists (eg, metoclopramide), as well as with drugs that have a hypotensive effect.
In case of missing one or more doses of the drug, the treatment should be resumed as soon as possible, in the planned dosage and according to the application scheme.
EXPIRATION DATE
2 years.
After the first opening of the bottle — 28 days, provided it is stored in a dark place at a temperature of 5 to 25°C.
